In my HIstory of Traditioanal Madern History class taught at Pasadena City College, I was given an introductory of the history of the African Continent, from the from the prehistoric "out of Africa" theory, all the way to the two world wars and beyond. What my professor Dr. West y Jimenez asked of his student was to find a topic either in the book, or in his lecture that we found especially interesting, to write a term project or essay on, and this is mine.
I chose to write my Term project on the History of the African Presence of Africans in Mexico, AKA "Afro-Mexican. Because I consider myself a part of that group. My mother in fully mexican and my Father is Half African American, so in part i thought that made my Afro-Mexican and I wanted to learn more and teach about this specific race of people. Even though thoughout life I had only even been labe;ed mexican, I had family mambers who did have more African Facial Characteristics, to in my head I felt mixed.
In This Site I will attempt to define what is the Afro-Mexican, what it means to be one in Mexico, as well as the stigmas behind the name. I will also try to uncover why This race of people seems to have to little influence on the Mexican mindset.
